Growing up by the sea in Edinburgh, Emma still loves spending time at the coast whenever she can and is passionate about protecting our marine environment for future generations. A former corporate lawyer, Emma moved into environmental campaigning and public affairs and joined MCS in 2018. Previously Emma led a public campaign for better environmental protections for areas affected by the proposed HS2 rail line and worked as a parliamentary adviser on the HS2 Bill.
At MCS Emma leads the parliamentary work on the Fisheries Bill on behalf of Greener UK representing the coalition in engaging with and influencing government and parliament. She also leads MCS’s advocacy work with parliamentarians in Westminster and works closely with MCS’s programmes and campaigns teams to create engagement strategies to influence politicians across the political parties. Getting MPs along on beach cleans is a key strategy
