Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
The people who make our events happen. Without them, our beaches would be dirtier and our wildlife would be more at risk of entanglement.
They run our surveys at every Beachwatch beach clean, our volunteers record the litter they collect and send the information to us. MCS staff then look at trends, sources of litter and where to focus our campaigns to stop rubbish from getting to the beach in the first place.
Organising a Beachwatch beach clean and survey is easy as 900 passionate organisers well know.
Here's how to get started: Read our step-by-step guide and find out what it's all about.
Have a look at our beach map to find your nearest beach - if it's not there, we can add it on. Some beaches already have organisers - if that's the case don't despair! Drop us a line and we can look for one nearby that's in need of some love.
Then, register so that you can sign up to your beach, start planning your events and access loads of downloadable information.
We're here to help! If you have ANY questions just give us a ring: 01989 566017, or email us at beachwatch@mcsuk.org
